The One I Was Gonna Use

Here is the card I had made a few months back when we were gonna do the Flourish Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I love the way this card turned out. Did you notice my inspiration came from the SU! Demonstrator monthly magazine?! LOVE IT!! I think this card will make a great money holder or a party favor or even the invitation. It won't be an easy one to mail, though.

The color combo is so yummy!! Soft Suede, Baja Breeze and Very Vanilla. So wedding-y :) The flower is on a belly band, so you'll have to slide it off to open the tri-fold card.

Earlier this month I posted a close up photo of this particular paper flower. It's one I just kind of made up....even though I'm sure I've seen it somewhere before, it's just my take on it. :O)

It's That Time of Year....

The first day of school!! So exciting, nerve wracking and fun all rolled into one crazy day. The big boys started First grade a couple weeks ago and we decided to put them in separate classes. I think this was definitely a great decision. They get along, they have their OWN space and they are happy to see each other at the end of the school day. Here is a photo from their first day:

Here is Luke:

Here is Tyler:

They have been having a great time and learning a lot! They really like their teachers and they have been doing really good in class! I am a proud mama!!

I like to do a little teacher gift....here is the newest version of the "Teachers Survival Kit":
Here is the poem:

Almonds when your class is making you feel a little nutty

Band-Aids for when things get a little rough

Chewing gum to help you stick to it

Crayons to color your day bright and cheerful

Eraser to remind you everyone makes mistakes

Lifesavers for when you’ve had one of those days

Paperclips to hold it all together

Pencil to “write your wrongs”

Rubber band to remind you to be flexible

Shiny penny to remind you that each will shine in his or her

own special way

Starburst to give you a “burst” of energy when you need it

Tissues to wipe away the tears…yours and theirs

Toothpick to help you “pick” out the good qualities in

others and yourself.

Summer Pages....

July and August have so many fun things to Scrapbook, but I went with the patriotic theme for July and the beach theme for August. We made these layouts in my monthly scrapbook club. I know these pics aren't great, but I wanted you to get the idea. Also, I got lazy and left them in the album. Hee hee! It's been a long day, what can I say?!

Flourish and Flowers

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we are challenging you to add a "Flourish" to your project.

The Elements of Style stamp set is not my typical go to set, but I found a new love for vintage a couple years ago, and I really embraced this versatile set.

I am totally in to making Paper Flowers right now. I am doing a class this week to teach my customers on how to create beautiful flowers with supplies they have laying around. Doing my research I came across some really cool tutorials. The flowers that I feature in this card are made with circle punches!!! WOW, huh?! The larger ones were with the 2-1/2" circle punch and the smaller one is with the 1-3/4" circle punch. I cut each circle from the outside inward in a spiral....scrolled it in toward the center and attached it with a mini glue dot. Viola...a cute little rosette. Here is a close up of the flowers:

I embossed the flourish with Silver Embossing Powder from Stampin' Up! for the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Ingredients:
Colors: Marina Mist, Regal Rose and Sahara Sand
Stamps: Curly and Cute, Elements of Style
Punches: Designer Label, 2-1/2" Circle, 1-3/4" Circle, Scallop Circle Bigz Die
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Silver Embossing Powder

Summertime Fun

This weeks challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Summertime Fun.

It's getting hot again here in Sunny So Cal and I can't wait...(enter sarcasm). I like warm weather, but not the 100+ degrees it can get out here, especially with a baby.

Here is my card....clean lines and all of the NEW yummy In Colors!! With those adorable surfboards from the Summer Splash Stamp Set it's the perfect summer Birthday card.

I have never made a card for a layout challenge, but today I needed some "MOJO" so I got my weekly email from "MOJO Monday" blog and thought I'd take a crack at it. I turned the card horizontal, but I think it's pretty cute and of course, my simple style. :) Here is the layout:

Ingredients:
Colors: Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder
Stamps: Birthday, Summer Splash
Accessories: Scallop Trim Border and 2 1/2" Circle Punches, White Satin Ribbon, In Color Designer Brads

Happy Stamping,

Stamps: Inspired By Nature

Button, Button, Who's Got The Button?

The challenge this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments is using buttons on your projects. This is what I came up with....

Okay, so I'd like to take full credit for this super cute idea, but I must tell you that Emily from the Jones Design Company gave me the inspiration. She made her button flowers into a bouquet. I made mine into a cute card! Don't you just think it is so cute?! I LOVE the bright and fun colors, too!!

Ingredients:
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Real Red
Stamps: Swirls and Curls Verses
Accessories: Bold Buttons (SU), Wire, Olive GG Ribbon, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Pennant Punch, Beautiful Butterfly Embosslit

I hope you have a fabulous day filled with Sunshine and Buttons! :)

Krista

Happy 4th of July

Welcome to my front door....here is my decor. (That rhymed! LOL!)

So bummed they discontinued the "welcome" decor element. My neighbor wanted me to make her one of these and I tried to order it...but I was too late. I'll have to order some vinyl sheets and make my own with the Big Shot.

Another thing we have on our porch is bird pooh. A family of Swallows have migrated and stopped here. We decided not to stop them from calling our porch home. Here is a shot of the messy little cutie pies.

I know we got the "tail end" of one of them, that's how they leave us the pile 'o surprise each day. YUCK! They'll probably be gone soon since it's getting really hot out. I bet they'll be heading north with their little one(s). I can't see in the nest since it's about 12 feet up inside our entryway. I can't wait to see them take their first flight. I'm wondering if they'll be dive bombers like their parents??

Have a fun and safe 4th and GOD BLESS THE USA!!!
