Paper Piecing Challenge at HSS

The challenge this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Paper Piecing. I wasn't sure that I've ever done that particular technique, but was thinking about what those words meant to me, did some research and discovered that I knew how to do it all along. I just added my own take to it...so here it is:

Here is an angle so you can see the dimension that I added to each layer and topped it off with some pearl adhesives.

Ingredients:
Fifth Avenue Floral
Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Barely Banana (retired), Old Olive and Whisper White Cardstock.
Black Stazon Ink
Old Olive Grosgrain 5/8" Ribbon
Basic Pearls
Decorative Label Punch
Scallop Trim Border Punch
Square Lattice Embossing Folder and Big Shot :)

Laurie and Da Boys In The 'Hood

My sister is home and doing pretty well considering her injuries. She has also recommitted her life to God! She is filled with hope, joy and faith and I am SO PROUD of her!! God saved her life in more ways than one. Here she is being silly with the twins:

Here is a fun picture of the baby taken just a few days ago. He is trying his first taste of solid food, rice cereal...isn't he so cute?!

Memorial Day Challenge at HSS

This weeks challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments is to create a project for Memorial Day. I was asked to create a card. As I was going through my stamp sets and supplies I couldn't find any inspiration. I sat, thought about it, and I was stumped. A few moments later I was surfing around on Facebook and an icon on my computer jumped out at me....the Stampin' Up My Digital Studio!! How could I forget about this FABULOUS program?! Okay....after many changes and never wasting any cardstock or supplies....viola....my 6" x 6" digital card:

I used the basic MDS program...with the exception of a few "updates" sent to me for FREE from Stampin'Up! Notice the dimension of the lettering and the nice color combination. I used Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Soft Suede. It was so easy to sit down at my computer and be able to move things around, add, take away, layer, shift, resize and so many other things. If you don't have this yet...you must invest in it!!

Happy Stamping! Or, in this case, Happy Digitizing!! ~Krista

Going Home...

After being struck by a car walking across the street....2 weeks in the hospital and one major surgery on both knees later, my sister, Laurie will be heading home to recover. She's got a long road ahead of her and my parents will be her main caretakers. It's gonna be tough, but with the grace of God she'll have a speedy and full recovery.
Here are some recent hospital photos:

Thank you to everyone that visited and sent cards and messages it means a lot to all of us. Please don't forget about her....YOU are all a part of her recovery, too!! If you'd like to mail her a card, send me a message and I'll get you her address.

"I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need." -Philippians 4:13

It's Been One of Those Times...

When all you want to do is go to sleep and hope that when you wake up you realize you've been dreaming. My sister Laurie was hit by a car early on Mother's Day morning. She initially had a brain bleed and several broken bones. It was a very scary time! Since Sunday, the brain bleed has repaired on it's own and they are now working on fixing up her broken body. Her neck, ribs, pelvis and both legs are fractured. She also has torn ACL's in both legs and needs surgery to repair them. I need to take a deep breath and just remember that she is in GOD's hands and HE will take care of her....like he has already! It's gonna be a long road to recovery, I'm sure, but I hope she knows how much we want her to get better and how much we love her!! Here is a picture of my beautiful sister and my baby Travis:

There is only so much that I can do for her...with 3 kids and a house to take care of, I'm torn.
Needless to say, stamping and crafting has been on the back burner. I sat in front of a sheet of cardstock last night looking to find my creativity....it was NOT there. I'll try again today....

SUO Challenge

Most of you know that I am VERY brand loyal! I LOVE Stampin' Up! and I feel bad when I even consider buying something non-SU. So, I saw this challenge at SUO and couldn't resist joining in the fun. I felt like my butterfly card that was my "runner up" couldn't go unnoticed. Here's a pic of all of my "friends" from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. Oh....Embosslits...how I love thee...

Here is a side view to see the dimension....

The Runner Up...

Here it is...the runner up for this weeks challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments....

Here is a little bit of a different angle. The words are on a piece of dental floss and it spins.

The tutorial for this card is on Splitcoaststampers.com. I can't for the life of me think of the technique...baby brain...or maybe it's vacation brain.

We went to San Diego and went to Sea World the first day and spent the 2nd day swimming and walking along the harbor across the street from our hotel. The weather was perfect and we had a nice time! I'm so truly blessed to have ALL of my boys!! It was a great short, last minute trip. So glad we went!

Color Challenge at HSS

My challenge this week at HSS was to create a card for our players to be inspired by. Guess what I did...I made 2 totally different cards and had my NEW Facebook Fan Page Friends choose the winner. This is the card they picked:

I'm lovin' the nice spring colors. The weather here has been SO GORGEOUS!! I know that the other states across the US are not so lucky! So I won't brag anymore...okay, maybe a little. Here are some pics from our Sunday afternoon at my parent's house.

The baby is gonna be 5 months old on May 5th! WOW...just writing that makes me so sad. Time flies!!!! Can you tell he's already teething?! Drooling buckets!

Here are all 3 of my handsome boys! Love these guys...smoochy, smoochy!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend...we sure did! Don't forget to look me up on Facebook under Krista's Stamper Room and click "LIKE".

By the way, the photos of the kids were taken with my newest addition to the family. A Canon EOS camera. It takes some awesome shots, now to learn how to use it to it's fullest....
