Color Challenge at HSS

Join us at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week for a fun color challenge.

This week I made a card and bag set.  I used the versamark shadow technique that I learned from my friend and fellow HSS Design Team member.  Click here for her blog and click here for the You Tube Video tutorial.

Here is a close up shot of the versamark shadow technique.  You'll need a color cardstock, a white craft ink pad and a versamarker.  Super easy with a big impact!  :)  Thanks Erin!

I also used a new stamp set that will be out on June 1st in the new catalog.  The set is called Everything Eleanor.  It's not one that I would normally choose, but since it was a gift to us at Leadership this year, I've had some time to look at it and it's growing on me.  :)  What do you think?

By the way, this is the second set of projects that my guests will be making at my next class this week.  FUN!  I can't wait!!

Spring Time Is Here

Join us this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments for a Spring Challenge....make anything that reminds you of spring!!

This week I made a gift bag and card set.  We will actually be making these at my next class.  You will also be making 2 other different bags and matching card sets, too.

I saw this technique with using the lace ribbon border punch....color on color.....on Facebook.  It was a card that one of the Artisan Award winners made.  Doesn't it add some nice texture?!!  I did it on the bag and on the card.  It's nice when you want to add texture, but the paper is too big for an embossing folder.  Here is a close up shot of it on the bag....

Ingredients:

Colors:  Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Whisper White
Stamps:  Mixed Bunch
Punches:  Lace Ribbon Border, Blossom, Scallop Edge Border
Accessories:  Large Pearls, Big Shot, Swirls Scribbles Sizzlit, Daffodil Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

My Poor Little Guy

I love him and it breaks my heart to see him in pain.  He was crying uncontrollably this afternoon and then when I went to hand him a book he only reached out with one arm.  I immediately got packed up and headed for the ER.  He would NOT move that thing....something is up.

Here he is in the waiting room, being silly, but still very cuddly.  He definitely wouldn't even move his left arm at all.  If he even moved his finger he'd say "ow".  :(

They took xrays and did an exam, but they still can't figure out what is wrong.  Tomorrow we will see an orthopedic doctor.  They decided to be on the safe side in the ER and put him in a hard splint and a sling. Yikes that kid has a serious set of lungs.

After all that drama, he's still smiling.  What a trooper!!

So, needless to say, I'll be taking some time off of stamping.  Have a great rest of the week!!  ~Krista

Technique Week at HSS

What's this you say?  Check out some other samples at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week.  I'm sure someone did a tutorial.  :)  I'm kind of out of commission today with a little ouchie on my toe.

Basically, you take a white pigment ink to a dark color cardstock, dry it, then color on the white stamped image with color pencils.  :)

Okay, the kid is screaming and my toe is throbbing....I'll add ingredients later.....

I Love My Mom

Join us this week for a Themed Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  This week we want you to create a project that honors a special mom in your life.

I made a card and a matching envelope.  I used a bright yellow color (So Saffron) because it makes me think about joy, hope, thoughtfulness, love, kindness, fun, honesty, reliability and so much more.  Really, it makes me think of my mom!!!  She is my best friend and I am so thankful for her!!!  She is beautiful inside and out and I am so truly blessed to call her mom!!!

Even though this card is for her, I hope she reads this blog post.  She's not a big blogger, but I know she'll occasionally check up on me and see what I've been up to.   This will be her card for Mother's Day this year.  :)

Here is the matching envelope.  I used my new diagonal score plate.  So easy and it makes a nice pair with the card.  Notice the ribboned edge of the flap and the sweet little pearls accenting the flower.

Happy Mother's Day MOM!!  I love you!!

HSS Color Challenge....Goin' Girly

I know that I have 3 sons and a husband.....but sometimes it's fun to make a real girly thing for my home.  Join us this week for a color challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I love to make my canvases.  A few years back I was asked to do a demo at a group meeting for SU! Demonstrators and I put a few different ideas together and added my own touches and I came up with a scrapbook page mounted on to canvas.

The flower is the large and small scallop circle punches.  I punched the large one 5 times and the small one 4 times.  I wet them with a squirt bottle, crinkled them up and set them aside to dry.  Once they were dry, I folded 4 of each color in half and then layered them up and glued each layer down.  The 5th scallop circle is used as the backing for the flower.  I took my piercing tool, punched a hole and put in the antique brad.  Added a little Espresso Satin Ribbon tail.  Here is a close up:

For the background I did my take on Shelli's emboss resist demo she did at Convention 2008.  

First, I rolled the Very Vintage wheel on Vanilla CS using Early Espresso ink.  I inked it off a little, though.

Next, I inked the Flower image from the Elegant Trio Stencil with Versamark, sprinkled clear embossing powder then heated it with the heat tool to set the powder.

Then I took my sponges and sponged over the whole page with Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink and Early Espresso.

Once I had all of the background paper done, then I spread Mod Podge all over the canvas in a nice thin layer and smoothed on the page WITHOUT the embellishments.  Then I laid the canvas on it's front and smoothed it out from the back.  The reason for this is that sometimes the canvas will get stretched out if you press to hard on the front of it.

Other:  Early Espresso Satin Ribbon, Razzleberry Button, Linen Thread, Cutter Kit (Distressing the edges of the photo matting)
Non-SU:  Art Canvas, Mod Podge, Easel stand for display
