Inspired by #137

Inspiration comes in many forms.  When I saw the inspiration photo this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments and my eyes went to the tags.  I had a vision....didn't come together like I wanted, but it's sweet simple and to the point.  I guess I'm all loopy from the sugar I ate on Sunday.... MY BIRTHDAY.  :)

I came up with this banner made of tags.  I used Crumb Cake and Pool Party colors.  I made bows out of linen thread and clipped them to the Pool Party ribbon with a tiny library clip.  Click on the photo for a larger view.  I attached it to the basket and HEL-LO here's your sign.

I'm off to bed now, gotta get up early and prepare for my first Bible Study meeting with some fabulous ladies at my new church called Vantagepoint Church here in Eastvale, California!  I am so excited!  :)

Scrapbook Layout with a Smooch!

September is back to school season, but my boys actually started in July!!  We FINALLY go on our first break the month of October.  It's called year around school.  I must say that I really love it.  3 months on....1 month off....awesome!!  No getting burned out here!!
I made these pages to fit the kids' school photos.  I got them both back, but one of the twins needed his retaken....his eyes were closed.  SERIOUSLY....don't they use a digital camera?!  Anyways, here are my pages.  We made these at my September scrapbooking class.

I used the Newsprint and the Summer Smooches DSP's and I really love the color combo and the layout is so fun! I cut a 10x10" piece out of the Newsprint DSP for one page then matched up the leftover pieces to put on the other page.  No waste!  :)  That made me totally happy!

Spooky Technique

It's time for another new technique.  It's called Crayon Rubbed Embossing.  Very interesting, but really cool results.  You HAVE to check out the coolest projects by the other DT members at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  I'm totally in love with this look!!  My use of the technique is displayed in the background.

Can you tell which embossing folder I used?  You can't?  Kinda spooky isn't it?!  :P  I used the stripes embossing folder....rubbed a white crayon on the cardstock while it was laying on the open embossing folder....then I ran the brayer over it after I inked it up with Lucky Limeade.
Super cool technique for a Halloween card for sure!!  It would also look cool on a vintage card!
Join us this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments!!

I also entered this card over at Dynamic Duos this week!

BOO!!

Oh how I miss this Alphabet Die cut.  I just bought it before it retired!!  Oh well, it sure made a cute banner, right?!  This week's challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments was to use and alphabet in your project.  Hop on over there and check out the awesome projects the other DT members made!!

I use the new set called Googly Ghouls on this banner.  I also used the Silver Glimmer paper and the Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP.

Here is a close up of the letter....I wish I would have embossed this with the Chevron Embossing Folder.  I'll do it on the next one I make.  :)  Lovin' those googlie eyes, too!!

I used black taffeta ribbon to connect each part of the banner.  Cute little guy, right?!  LOL!

By the way, this is going to be the class project that I am hosting on September 30th.  Wanna come?

Happy Stamping!

HSS #134

This week's challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is COLOR!!

This weekend we celebrated my cousin Alyssa's 21st Birthday and her dad's 50 (see other post here).  So I decided to combine her Birthday card with this week's color challenge.  I saw on her Pinterest page that she liked the paper rosettes so I made her some for her card.

Here is the challenge photo and the details.....JOIN US!!  :)

I actually made another card first....with the Delicate Doily in Not Quite Navy and the swirl stamp from Everything Eleanor is different.  I felt like it was a bit much for the look I was going for.....my hubby liked this one better, though.  So, I ended up giving Alyssa this card instead.

Here are some close up pics of the rosettes.  I took a 1-3/8" Punched circle out of Daffodil Delight then I cut it from the outside in...into a spiral.  Then I rolled it all the way from the outside in and hot glued it all to the center.  Added a pearl and done!!  :)

For the party this weekend they asked us to dress in either the 60's or the 90's since that's the decades the Birthday peeps were born.....here is my SUPER RAD 90's FLASHBACK FAMILY PHOTO!!  The hubby was from 90210 (the old version), I was the homeschool mom (my aunt called me that all night), the twins are the super cool Zach Morris's from Saved By the Bell and the baby....was just cute with his boom box shirt and rolled up sleeves.

Happy Stamping!!
